At the forefront of ethical fashion, Carla Fernández work preserves the rich textile heritage of Mexico’s indigenous communities and uses age-old processes to bring fresh textures to contemporary fashion.
Reschia shoes complemented the looks and took over the catwalk at the V&A Museum in London for Fashion in Motion. The show features an edit of selected pieces from five previous collections by Fernández, highlighting the designer’s commitment to decolonization, intersectionality and social justice.
The show coincides with V&A exhibition about the life of artist Frida Kahlo, presenting an extraordinary collection of her personal artefacts and clothing. Locked away for 50 years after her death, this collection has never before been exhibited outside Mexico.
